Samuel Z. Solomon teaches percussion at The Boston Conservatory, Boston University, and The BU Tanglewood Institute. He is author of the acclaimed book, How To Write For Percussion, as well as three books on percussion playing and was curator of two collections of percussion etudes and solos. Book arrived as promised. Perfect condition. Very informative and helpful. I just received my copy and have already found it very useful. My one and only complaint is with the quality of the printing. The pages are very thin, and the cover is also thin. The notes I've scribbled in the margins with an ink pen are visible on the opposite side. If I use truly as a reference and keep coming back to it (which I expect to do), I doubt it will have a long life.

If you are a composer and you ever write for percussion, you should have this book. It is well-written, immaculately detailed, and with the newly released 2nd edition now has great online video components to go along with it. No other orchestration book covers percussion anywhere near this well.

A most valuable text book, big help for a non-percussion player composer.Written in a clear and easy language, and the video part is also a big help. A recommended book for all musicians.
