It's been 2 1/2 years since my husband died . I've been told that after six , months I should have been back to my old self. This book has helped me realize that I am not crazy and has offered many ideas to help me "reconcile" not "get over" my grief. Thank you.

I purchased this book a week prior to losing my spouse and started reading it. I have read this book and parts of it for the last 3 wks since losing my husband. It's like it was written with the author knowing what your attention span is right after such a profound loss, i emailed the author as well, and he emailed me the same day, he really understands the grief process i purchased his grief journal to write down how i am feeling i also see a counsler and have suffered significant losses in a short period of time but my husband was the worst by far, just know you are strong and can reconcile grief but you cannot do it alone, it takes a village and inner strength to live with a pain that never goes away

If you are looking for a gift for someone that might not pray.This mentions praying twice, I sent it to someone that wasn't religious and they love it. It's that line of having faith, without being too preachy. The recipient of this book did not feel like religion was being crammed down her throat, and actually takes solace that it was written with sound advice.Not to sound heartless, but not everyone practices the same faith and that was why I was hesitant to get a book for someone -not religious- whom just lost a spouse.

Losing a spouse was the hardest thing I could have imagined. I had been to a seminar by Dr Wolfelt and liked his simple, common sense approach. I was not in a state of mind for reading long chapters and complicated answers. This book was great because it is an easy read, and is organized so I could easily just read one page a day if that was my mood. I have read some his other books as well.

Grief is what we think and feel on the inside when someone we love dies.Mourning is the outward expression of our grief.Must experience Mourning to heal and not restrict it. The key is to remove self judgment and allow ourselves to simply feel.Just as you surrendered to the mystery of love, you must surrender to the mystery of grief.
