This book more than exceeded my expectations, but I'm biased because I'm a Linda Godfrey fan based on her past books documenting witness encounters with the Dogman, a werewolf-like creature. This book covers Dogman and Bigfoot but it also covers all of the other strange, weird, paranormal, supernatural stuff that witnesses have observed that are unexplainable. If you care at all about the weirder things associated with these things like strange mists, missing time, portals, orbs and such, then this book is worth reading. It is creepy on so many levels, it is well written as one might expect from a seasoned author. I found it to be interesting and hard to put down. If you are in the school of thought that cryptids do not exist, this is not the book for you, if you think that they might exist, but it's only an undiscovered species of a solely flesh and blood creature with nothing else attached then this also is probably not the book for you. If you have an open mind to any and all possibilities, then Linda Godfrey does a good job of describing what the witnesses reported, and leaves any conclusions up to the reader to describe. I will warn you, even if you think you've already heard it all before like I thought I had since this is my hobby, trust me you haven't heard it all before, you'll find some fantastic, never-heard, never-imagined stories in here that leave you freaked out.

I have listened to Linda's stories on various podcasts like C2C and she gathers interesting information. I found the book's collection of stories OK. Some were stunning and interesting and others seemed like the rambling of a paranoid and imaginative people. I found the style of some of the writing clunky in each chapter. For example, the outline breakdown summary of each story didn't really add any value to the stories per se. The photos didn't really add anything to the stories either. A few of the stories were certainly fascinating. I'm a believer but I didn't find this book the best written based on the interviews I've heard on various talk programs.

I have followed Ms. Godfrey's publishing career since I picked up the Beast Of Bray Road on a lark some time back. While this book does not focus on the manwolf phenomenon exclusively, there are a number of cases from the author's files, in depth notes on an ongoing investigation and more. As always, this work is well written and open minded, touching on a number of current theories in the paranormal and adding the author's own thoughts and research where applicable. Strongly recommended.

I purchased this book because I do a paranormal podcast with two of my girlfriends, and I thought it could serve as a good source of info. The stories in it are laid out clearly, and the evidence provided for the monsters is really interesting. This definitely isn’t a book that I would buy normally, but I’m glad I did.

It is amazing what you can learn from a book about monsters. Very good stories. Some of the mysteries have a possible prosaic solution. Others make you go "Hmmmm" and a handful bordered on the spooky. All were fairly entertaining. Did any to the stories scare me? Nah, not me, but I sure ain't going camping now!

Linda Godfrey ably tackles a wide range of creepy stuff in this book and it's a real page-turner as are the rest of her works. Linda doesn't treat her subject matter with the nauseating numb-skullery of reality TV. She researches her material to the Nth degree and presents it in a very scholarly manner. This book is a winner.

Linda Godfrey writes a great book about different kinds of monsters that people run into in modern times. Her book stands out because of the thought and research she puts into the stories she highlights. She writes a bit like John Keel who categorized and pointed out consistencies with creature sightings that wouldn't be obvious. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I absolutely love Linda Godfrey's writing. She makes things funny, interesting and she's so organized. She's just an incredibly colorful writer. Every paragraph in this book contains vibrant language that keeps you engaged. The content is fascinating. One of my concerns while trying to find books to read on this subject was "will I be able to find anything that I don't already know?" I've researched a lot about cryptids and paranormal phenomena and was unsure if I'd just be reading the same old, somewhat stale, experiences. Super happy to report that there are a lot of dots connected and tons of new experiences to ponder :)
