When my wife and I separated this book was recommended to me. That was a mistake. The book itself seems fine, but you should know it’s targeted at those who are resolved about splitting up, not those wondering around trying to figure out if they are doing the right thing. I expected at least ‘some’ wisdom on the decision making process...but this book screamed “it’s over...accept it and move on...here’s some tips on maintaining a good relationship with that other person by not being a jerk.”

When my 15-year relationship came to an end after he revealed a secret sex addiction under very unpleasant circumstances and then proceeded through a full year of more lies and manipulation. A year during which I was diagnosed with and treated for a brain tumor. I didn't think that it was possible to find a way to turn the end of our marriage into a positive experience for us or our three daughters. This book has helped me do that. Although there are days when I feel angry and resentful that it came to this, I know these are fewer as I do this work more fully. It would be so easy to emerge as the victim of this situation but I am finding practical ways to avoid that trap as I work through this book again over time and consider the implications of both my situation and my actions. Never disappointed with Dinesh! Truly a gifted writer/ producer!

I was not expecting the level of rigor in addressing fundamental questions about Christianity.Dinesh takes the topic head on using the dialectic academic approach to answer the questions.The book is very well provenanced with hundreds of citations.All that you hear in popular culture is Christian bashing. If you have a sense of history at all, you have to wonder what is true and what is not?Dinesh demonstrates what many have long postulated, the rise of science and the Enlightenment in Europe was fueled by Christianity.There is a sister book to this one that complements it well, “the Politically Incorrect Guide to Christianity.”I recommend reading both of these books.Well done Dinesh!

This is my very first review and I am not "learned." In fact, I am a very simple guy. I'm Catholic and I feel relatively knowledgeable of my religion and the only reason I bought "What's So Great About Christianity" is because of the author, Dinesh D'Souza. I saw him in a debate with a liberal underground terrorist who hates America, and I very much respected the fact that Dinesh loves America and defended our country so vigorously--and even used biblical scripture to describe its exceptional nature. Even though Dinesh is a scholar, the book is written at a level that even the basic reader can readily understand, and it is for Christian believers and non-believers alike. For persons at my simple level of thought, it provoked visions of creation and evolution such as the difference of WHO did it verses…WHAT happened? CREATION is of God and is the beginning. Evolution is of man, and about continuation, change, adaptation, and survival over time.Yet, Dinesh's book certainly does not stop there; that's only the beginning: There's Christianity and Limited Government, Science (Heck, I made the connection between Genesis and the medical term "genes"), the Theological Roots of Science, Christianity and the Invention of Invention, and I loved the chapter on Why Miracles are Possible ( It made me think how people want spectacles to see rather than miracles to believe. And how we couldn't even conceive of a miracle if none had ever happened. All things are possible. Or, how miracles don’t prove what is impossible; they confirm what is possible). Then, there's the old "Christian Inquisition" issue: Dinesh explores it with a sense of openness and critique, yet without bias.Toward the end, Dinesh speaks to Atheism, Why Unbelief is So Appealing, and Where the Atheists Are When Bad Things Happen. While Dinesh does not indict atheists for their wait and see posture, he does make a very strong case for the rest of us--especially our youth--not to be taken in by their highly emotional rhetoric and pseudo-science claims that sound so "good" and "right."Ultimately, Dinesh speaks to Why Man is More Than Matter. We are God's creation and God's light in the world. Our nature is light. As I read I could envision a darkened room, but the moment we turned on a light--the darkness of the room is dispersed and chased away. And it doesn't matter if the room has been dark for one week or 30 years, when our light switch is on--darkness is gone. So when Dinesh talks about man being more than matter--he's absolutely right. There's the "problems of man", and then there's "man as the problem." We must believe who and what we are. Dinesh spells it out for us in his wonderful book, What's So Great About Christianity.

I have been a Presbyterian pastor and bible teacher for over forty years and now am honorably retired, I continue to teach and study the faith of Jesus Christ. Controversial conservative scholar the Indian born Dinesh D'Souza is famous for his political book but this is my favorite of all his tomes! In it D'Souza launches a spirited and well researched defense of the Christian Church against atheism. The Church is an anvil which has worn out many hammers wielded by the challenges of modern atheists such as Christopher Hitchens, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins and many others.D'Souza shows in this book:a. How the church has not been opposed to scientific inquiryb. The author asserts that the basis of Western Society lies on the foundation of Christian morality and teaching over the centuries.c. Good chapters in the book explore the Big Bang Theory and assert that the universe was created by God.d. D'Sousza shows how Christianity is the fastest growing religion in the world and is particularly strong in Africa and South America. D'Souza's book should be read by all interested Chrstians and non-Christians who wish to keep abreast of religion in America and the world. Well recommended!

I really admire D'Souza's writing style and how he presents the argument. This is a great apologetics book. I really love how he uses the secular point of view to defend Christianity, so that is a heads up for readers who are used to defending Christianity from the Christian view point. I could not put the book down as he defends Christianity from so many different angle rather than just the evolution versus creation argument so commonly heard.

Absolutely fabulous book. This is more of an intellectual read. There is nothing wrong with a book full of stories about how people were one way, then became a Christian, and they were changed for the good. This is NOT one of those books. This book will make you think. You do not have to accept any human being's word for it that God either exists or does not exist. You should investigate it for yourself. Everyone probably agrees that it is an important question to get answered.If you are an atheist, agnostic, or a Christian, this will probably be an interesting book for you.

Very amateurish, not well written and at times very difficult to follow. Even so, there were a few useful recommendations. I would not recommend this book to anyone other than possibly a raw beginner. It is not worth the price of admission to anyone with any photographic knowledge. Just my take.

The pictures are very good. The rest is, well, so-so. Mr. Weitens needs an editor and a spell checker. More information about the photos would have been helpful.

Took me some day to write this review, because I just want to read the book first and to have a good look of this. Not just say good book or bad book; at the end I find a great book with good information but with some brilliant images.It is hard as a photographer to ahve such consistency as Marinus work. You will find his style immediatly and he get stcuk with it, that shows us the way he sees the world and the way an artist should make a name for it self.After get Marinus book, you have to visit his website, I love his template or the way he build his site, really a great way tho show a photographic work; I wish mine was similar to that.I wish Marinus need a good Colombian assistant to work for him :-)Good work Marinus... but people you get this one then you need to find his other work.

Interesting book with dozens if beautiful, high-quality photos. Well worth reading if you're interested in black and white photography. Well done.

I was literally laughing until I cried and crying until I laughed. The integrity of these women shines through on each page, as does their amazing sense of humor. Rose's equating of unrequited love to math made me laugh so hard, partly in relatableness, that my dog came running in concern. Rosie's dad (or lack thereof) jokes brought levity at strategic times.Well written and worth reading.

As a a longtime fan of Rose and Rosie, I was very excited for this book to come out. It definitely did not disappoint. Rose and Rosie are so honest about everything from their mental health to being influencers to their relationships with friends, family, and each other. Much like their videos, this book makes you laugh out loud while simultaneously feeling supported and less alone. Even if you don't watch their videos (you should) everyone should read this book!

Overshare is full of insight, hot goss, and genuine humor that all intermingles into a cohesive and wonderfully helpful and entertaining book. Rose and Rosie have just found another way to engrain themselves in my life. It seems escape is unobtainable. From what I can tell, the book also doubles as the indoctrination literature for their cult. 10/10 would pretend to be another person to join again.

This made me cry, laugh, and roll my eyes at how i can hear rose's sarcasm in my head. Ive been watching their videos for the last 7 years and its been interesting watching them grow to the point where they can eloquently write actual adult advise as opposed to sitting around Rosie's flat farting at each other. I love both of you dearly and don't think I'd be half as satisfied with my life without having you guys to look up. Your love makes me feel like everythings going to turn out fine and im so grateful for that. Id like to meet you guys one day but im sure id have a 'kate moenig vs rose dix' awkward moment. Im excited to see where the rest of life takes you, and myself. The book itself is amazingly written and funny and heartfelt and actually really helpful. And juicy, which, as a gemini, im always down for the goss. Thank you both for always being amazing.

I've been subscribed to their YouTube for a long while now. When I saw they came out with a book I bought it as soon as I had spending money. It's one of the best books I have ever read and it was interesting and every page made me want to read another!

Listen, I don’t care who you need to steal money from, this book is worth it. If I’m being honest, I was a little disappointed there wasn’t more of an overshare, but I think that’s because I could never get enough of these two. If you don’t buy this book for yourself, buy it to support their second book. Because I need it. I love what Rose and Rosie put out into the universe and I hope they keep creating for a long time. I wish I had this book growing up! It’s such a wonderful contribution to the LGBT community. My wife and I are blonde and brunette, same age, and it’s so much fun seeing the similarities we share with Rose and Rosie through their channel, book and now documentary. PS. When can I see this?! The best thing about this book is I can confidently say everyone will be able to find something they can relate to. I love their sarcasm, but you always know when they are serious. Am I right? Personally, I love this book for its simplicity, even when they are talking about serious stuff. When I was done reading this book, I felt like a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders and, gave me a lot of confidence to face problems, rather than running away from it.

Nomad Mortis is the eight book in the Terry Henry Walton Chronicles (AKA the Nomad Chronicles). This is the second book in what is, arguably, the second arc of the Nomad story. The first arc was the survival of humanity, the growth of New Boulder and then the move to North Chicago. This took 6 books, all of which were compelling reads with great characters and a lot of thought put into the story arc. The seventh book was much less fulfillng but set the scene for the second arc which can be summarised as the war against the Forsaken (rogue vampires).In this book TH and crew grow their army (Force de Guerre [FDG]) and go to war against the Forskaen who are trying to turn the remnants of humanity into slaves and a food source. Vampires suck; literally. SInce the forsaken are organised a co-ordinated effort is required to beat them. This is the story of the first battle against the forsaken. I've given this a lower score not because of the characters or the writing in general but for a flaw in the story itself. These books are co-written with Michale Anderle of Kurtherian Gambit fame. The second KG arc was a triumph of energy enthusiasm, creativity and poor editing. Ideas came and went so quickly that very little was properly developed and stories went by so fast that the really interesting bits weren't properly investigated or developed. This wasn't a problem with the Nomad Chronicles up to this point. The general theme is well developed and conveys the idea that fighting the forsaken is lite splat a rat. Kill one and ten more pop up. Unfortunately a lot of ideas from the KG universe re-appear and then disappear just as quickly without adding to the story. The trip to Antarctica to visit New Schwabenland is a case in point. Yes KG universe readers should know about this but in this context all it adds to the story is that Antarctica is cold. Well duh!So I'm giving this three stars as it could have been more focused and the Anderle inspired bits didn't add tot he story but distracted from the theme. I still love the characters and can't wait to read more but this is the second book in a row that hasn't met the standards of the first six. Let's hope books 9 and 10 are back up to standard.

Awesome Craig writes stories that grab the reader, bringing you into the story as if you are going through all the events with the characters. In this fantastic installment, we find TH and the FDG having to root out evil and bring justice to the world. The characters are maturing and developing their own lives and you feel the emotional upheaval that Joseph is going through as he helps TH destroy his brothers, the Forsaken. Children are entering the FDG and parents have to face the terror of your child possibly dying, but are proud of their choices.It is everything that Awesome Craig puts into his novel: stellar characters, engrossing plot, and his incredible sense of humor that puts these novels head and shoulders above the rest. If this is what happens, this honor and sense of justice, to an individual who lives out in frozen Alaska, then maybe more of us should be spending time there.As always, I am waiting with tremendous eagerness for the next book. May you have peaceful days, Awesome Craig, that allow you to spend your time writing for us, your faithful fans!

I love how the various folks in this post WWDE world are responding to the challenges they are facing. I'm also reading all the other offshoots of the Kurtherian Gambit Series, and I find myself going back to the timeline to see when other things happened. I know that this series goes up to the time of Michael's return, but I guess I need to read the next book to see how TH's world jives with Michael's at that time.I loved every page of this book. Some things I was anxious about have been resolved (thanks, Craig.) Some things I never thought about were brought up and resolved, or are continuing to be a challenge. Can't wait to read the next book.

The Nomadic series has been excellent from the beginning, but this book out does them. It is very fast paced, and the main characters continue to grow. Not only must TH deal with very dangerous forsaken, but he must deal with this protective feelings over his daughter as she finds romance. The book is well written and hard to put down. The is exciting from the opening pages to very satisfying conclusion. It is among the very best of books in the Kurtherian universe.

Another satisfying chapter in the THW Chronicles of the KGU universe. This is volume 8 and the previous 7 volumes are must reads before this one or you'll feel lost.Definitely recommended to all the THW fans. All others– go buy & read the first 7 and then this one :D

Anyone who has read Dorothy Sayers' mysteries featuring Lord Peter Wimsey should not be surprised that she seriously studied the roles assumed by people in her world and how those roles were viewed. She was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford and pursued goals that were not usually thought of as feminine. In the two essays in this 69-page pamphlet, Sayers responds to the idea that there are women's roles and men's roles.In Sayers' mind, being human was more important than being female or male. Based on that concept, she felt that individuals should pursue employment that best suits them without regard to societally based roles. In spite of progress that has been made since her day (these essays were originally published in a work titled Unpopular Opinions, copyright 1947) the subject is still of interest today. As far as women have come in the more than 60 years, there is still much discussion about whether or not women should enter traditionally male employment.What makes the idea of gender-specific roles almost laughable is that most of the male-dominated roles were originally those of women, from cooking to planting to serving at table. Her view of the history of these ideas has to make anyone pause and consider how much things have changed and whether assigning gender roles has truly been overcome.

Being a fan of Sayers' Lord Peter stories for many years, I decided to try her essays too. "Are Women Human?" consists of two essays--the title essay and another called "Human Not-Quite-Human." Both are well-written, and more importantly, well-reasoned. Reading her I found myself smacking my head more than once and thinking "Why did I never think of that? It makes such sense!" Sayers' arguments are both to the point and made with humor. She makes her points from history and from the Bible, and her warnings against generalizing are excellent. Not all men are the same. How can all women be? This is an easy, fun read from which one can take away a lot of excellent ideas.

A thought provoking pair of essays about a "women's" role. Written a couple of generations ago, it is still pertinent today. As a man who works in what was traditionally a women's field, I can appreciate where she is coming from.

Dorothy L. Sayers states Jesus' treatment of women so eloquently and objectively. There is a unique relationship Jesus had with women, and as much as some sects of religion try to downplay it, it will always shine through. Jesus valued women for more than their bodies, more than their gender, more than their motherhood and more than their housekeeping abilities. The church tries to limit women in so many ways, but hopefully they will see how much Jesus valued women and stop their segregation, pigeonholing, and putting women in ineffective boxes.

In Dorothy Sayers book "Are Women Human," which was a short story on how women were treated in England in the early 1900s. It was her thoughts on gender notions and how women were treated in society, but asserting why she was not a feminist to the cause. She argues that women and men are all humans that have the same needs, or different ones depending upon the individual. However, nevertheless it shows how women are associated and still compared to our male counter parts. Miss Sayers continues the argument that women and men are all humans that have the same needs, or different ones depending upon the individual. It's ok to have a certain amount of classification, which is necessary and presents no harm in doing so.In her second short story entitled "The Human-Not-Quite-Human, she focused on women acting more like men than anything else. She compared the human factor of Vir being the male, Femina the female and Homo being both male and female. She described that men have always dealt with Vir and Homo while women only dealt with Femina.Sayers argue the point that men (Vir) have always demanded that women (Femina) shall act lady like at all times; regardless if she's engaged or in a Homo relation or not. Men have always been attracted to women and will appropriate it without any regard to having scruples. Based on her concept of this last statement; it still holds true within today's society. However, if women acted as such; she labeled them as being unworthy or a scamp.Overall, both short stories were amusing and delightfully funny as Sayers poked fun about being human. Reading this book provided some insight on how things were then and now. It's worth reading.

The first two books in this series were very good - five stars each. This book, however, was way longer than it should have been, and much less satisfying.In the first book, the hero (Darrow) does the unthinkable, rising from his lowest-caste status as a Red to the top shelf Gold. In the second book he meets people and wreaks havoc with the Society, which he aims to destroy. This book is very different from the others. It follows Darrow as he builds an army of loyalists and ships, and meets new and old people, some friendly, some not. At the beginning he finds himself imprisoned by his one-time (and some-time) friends, and as the book progresses he recruits allies to his cause. Along the way he runs repeatedly into enemies who have betrayed him over and over. Finally, at the very end, he seems to win, but suddenly loses, yet somehow emerges victorious.I think the story could be good, and it sort of wraps up what the hero set out to do in the first book, although with voluminous loose ends. (I assume books four through six will get the situation straightened out.) But all throughout there is so much unbelievable crap, like in a bad super spy thriller. People get cut to shreds yet suddenly win the fight. People do things that should get them killed, but amazingly live to fight again. (I REALLY got tired of 'Aja' popping up everywhere.) Darrow keeps trusting people he knows he shouldn't, and keeps paying the price. Attacks overcome unbelievable odds only to be stymied by some inconsistent little detail.As in the previous book, Darrow keeps falling into apparently unwinnable situations but magically gets away. The worst of these episodes comes at the end of the book, when he attains a major victory over a main enemy. The author leads us to believe that the situation goes south, the good guys die, and the annoyingly recurrent, really bad people are seconds from victory. He even tells us what Darrow is thinking about - how he messed up and lost the war. Except that's not what Darrow is thinking. He does something unforeseen and saves the day. We actually get lied to. Surprises and strange turns are what make books good, but to be jerked around like this doesn't make readers happy. It seems like the ending was given a lot of twists, turns, and action to revive an otherwise slow moving sequel to the first two books, but really it just misleads and annoys the reader. After this treatment, it think it will be a long while before I consider starting book four.I am not a fan of run-on sentences. They can be used to great effect in the right situations, but this book is fraught with them, to the point that you find yourself tripping over the writing itself, wondering if you missed something. It's irritating, and worse than in the previous books.And finally, the author should really learn the difference between "till" and "until". It's not that difficult.Did I like this book? Not especially. I had to read it because it was the next in the series. Will I read the next one? I don't know.

POILERS ARE POSSIBLE. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.This book was the best conclusion I could have hoped for in regards to this series. My heart broke over and over (as per the norm for Pierce Brown), and then at the end it was put back together again. I am so in love with this series, I’ve been recommending it to everyone.I’m not sure if I mentioned it before or not, but I started this series on a couple of my friends’ recommendations. They told me just enough to keep me hooked, but also just enough to make me terrified to finish the book. I’m so glad they got me started on it, though. This review, as much as I would like for it to be only about Morning Star, is probably going to focus more on the series as whole. I can’t write a full review without spoiling everything.Brown’s world is one of the most complex I’ve ever seen; from the caste system down to each relationship that Darrow has with the other characters. Every one of the characters is so dynamic, you can’t help but love every single one of them, even when a few betray Darrow.Let’s talk about Darrow for a second. He is flawed, but his flaws are what make him such a good character. He tries to be noble and honorable, but he is selfish and cocky and he has a bad habit of betraying his friends. Darrow is not really a character that we fall in love with, despite everyone around him falling in love with him. We do, however, fall in love with his story and his world. It’s full of awful, terrible things, but it’s world where humans have pioneered into space. It’s a world with crazy technological advancements and the ability to create in ways that we cannot yet create. But, it’s broken, so we want to see it fixed.I loved seeing Darrow’s transformation. I especially enjoy how his view of Eo changes over the course of the books. In the beginning, she’s perfection in his eyes. He spends the whole of Red Rising mourning her, but by the time we hit Golden Son Darrow starts to realize that his life with Eo wasn’t everything he thought it was. By the end of Morning Star, it’s plain to Darrow that he’s fighting for Eo’s dream, but not really for Eo anymore. Of course he still mourns her death, as he likely always will, but he realizes there’s more to his fight.Though Darrow is our MC, Sevro is my favorite character. He’s obnoxious, brilliant, and disgusting. He’s comic relief to the extreme, Darrow’s foil, and an overall fantastic character. He’s described as short and ugly, callsign Goblin. He hates it, but in the end he finds love. He’s still a sarcastic, foul-mouthed, little creature, but he’s one of the best characters in the entire series.Virginia au Augustus (Mustang) is also very brilliant, beautiful of course, but I also enjoy how much of a BOSS she is. She had me a little scared at the end of Golden Son, but she worked her way back into my good graces as Morning Star progressed.Victra au Julii’s overt sexuality was at first irritating (I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to like her character), but ended up being charming. She flirts unabashedly with just about everything that moves. But, she is also awesome, and things take an unexpected turn for her in the love department. It was great.Then there’s Ragnar. Sweet, giant, warrior Ragnar. Scary to look at. Scary to watch in battle. Loves kids. And I love him.The Telemanuses are loveable as well. Also giant. Also scary to watch in battle. Kevax has a fox that he loves as much as his own children. It really doesn’t get any better than that.Cassius au Bellona. Oh, Cassius.Roque au Fabii. I can’t even. I loved him even through everything.Those are just the characters I like. The villains, are all terrifying. Octavia, the Sovereign, is cunning. She has ruled the Society for 60 years, beheading her own father to take his throne. She has captured Darrow multiple times, and even though he’s escaped her, she’s not keen to let him go again.Aja, The Protean Knight and one of three Furies that protect the Sovereign. She’s fierce, a fighter with no rival, the best student of her teacher, Lorn au Arcos (the best Olympic Knight there ever was). She is truly fearsome. I wouldn’t want to be her prey.Adrius (The Jackal), Mustang’s twin, absolutely scares me. A sociopath with fighting skill, he manipulates his way around the politics of the Society, building a following of Golds and lowColors to use as he pleases. He is always a step ahead of Darrow. Speaking of, I want to share a thought that my friend Mary brought to my attention; a thought that I believe is brilliant. She had suggested one change for this series, one change I never would have thought of, but would have been great. She thinks the Jackal should have been a woman. Sit with that for a moment, and think. It’s common for the most vile of villains to be a man, but imagine if Adrius was a woman; how completely terrifying would she have been? Imagine, the face of the woman Darrow loves on his most formidable enemy; all of the horrors from Darrow forcing her to cut off her own hand, to the destruction at the end of Morning Star. Adrius’ withdrawal from Mustang after their mother left, ordering the death of her older brother. Imagine. She would have been more dreadful than any other person in this series. Mary’s right, it would have made the book that much better.These books overall were just phenomenal. I’m sad that it’s over, but I hear there’s going to be a spinoff novel, and that makes me happy again. Literally everyone needs to read these.
