At a time like no other, amidst growing tensions between the two major dominant religions of the world, there exists little effort in order to understand each other from a historical, theological standpoint. The prologue paints this beautifully, the 2014 visit of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi al-Modarresi with Pope Francis in joining against the fight to end modern slavery, shows signs of collaboration between the two major religions that would undoubtedly grow in future, and if you like, as the book would have, the quest in understanding these two major Prophets.The literature in appreciating the Quranic "Spirit of Allah" i.e. the muslim account of Jesus is scarce. This is a greatly welcome piece of work that appeals to the common lay reader, the style of the book is conversational, easy to read.Yes, calling the book "The Lost Testament", as the author himself says could be perceived to be "sacrilegious", but don't let that put you off.What is meant here is that the Islamic heritage on the son of Mary has been lost, albeit not just by Christians but by even Muslims themselves. The book uncovers narrations from Jesus transmitted through Prophet Muhammad or his (twelve) successors from classical Shi'i sources. The book is well structured, comprising completely of narrations of Jesus, with commentary. The chapters are divided into: Life, Spirituality, God, Society, The Church while the Appendix gives a brief introduction to Shia Islam. The books serves great as a quick read and also as a reference or manual to what Muslims would argue is the "biblical" way of life, or to live according to the true Gospel. Life lessons on morality, from command to "know yourself" to how to deal with criticism to recognizing the link between cash and clerics (religious or otherwise!)So why not 5 stars? Apart from me being a harsh critic when it comes to Islamic literature, I would have preferred there to be have seen verses from bible complemented with the narrations from Jesus in the commentary. Also, after finishing the reader is still wanting for more, perhaps on the Islamic biography of Jesus with Quranic analysis or what really happened after his death, the disciples and the second coming. The author hints to a follow-up book which I hope would incorporate some of these, along with gems of narrations - which, alone, are the focus and life of the text. As someone interested in religions I am always looking for new ideas and fresh perspectives. It also helps if the language used is contemporary and relevant. This book delivers on both counts. In a way, it is a cry for reconciliation at a time of morbid anxiety. It is an appeal for peace and harmony at the most critical point in interfaith relations. But above all, it shows that Islam and Christianity have more in common than followers of either faith care to admit. Though not a practicing Christian anymore, I felt more drawn to Jesus after reading 'The Lost Testament' than I did during Eucharist! I would love to see the author delve deeper into his vision of Jesus' life. Highly recommended overall.

Well, the book was not what I expected. It's a total of 50 pages and not one picture. And the "Conclusion" page says in paragraph 2, "I also really do hope that this book has enlightened you in some way. This book was specially written to help you understand Italy and all it's attractions and wonderful things to do there." In a book on SCOTLAND, that's detracts from the credibility of the information a bit!!

After receiving this book, which is dissapointingly short and reads like some child's cliff notes on Scotland, I am very disturbed by all the recent reviews that lead me to make this purchase. This book is totally useless and lacks any information that would be helpful in planning a trip by someone who actually is going to Scotland in the near future. After I read through this book, in shock, I went back to Amazon to see the reviews again, thinking the wrong book had arrived. But, no. There is one valid review that I failed to see when buying, that mentions one of my favorite parts, the hope I I have a better understanding of Italy. This book is total junk.

This was a total waste of time and money. The author doesn't even have his/her name on it. The pamphlet is full of typos and grammatical errors. It was/is a joke. The last page concludes for the readers memorable experience in ITALY! The book is on Scotland. This print-on-demand book should be taken off the Amazon website.

This book is worthless. It provides no detail, only simple, unhelpful statements (one example: "Scotland is home to many river systems. One of the most popular rivers is River Ness. River Ness is a short river in comparison to other rivers in the country, only 12 miles. Although short, it still provides great views and is nearby to many tourist attractions in Inverness"). A fifth grader could have done a better job. Don't waste your money on this book.

This amazing bible of Italian cinema contains tons of black and white pictures as well as color ones too. The book itself is broken down into six sections including; horror, thrillers & mysteries, violent adventure, science fiction, peplum & heroic fantasy, the "Dead Zone" (strange & unclassified films), and comedies & fables. This book is a must have any Italian movie fan or anyone curious or interested in Italian cinema and wants to know more information about there favorite movie director.

This book is essential reading for any fans of 'degenerate cinema' such as myself, though it may be a little difficult to navigate for newer delvers into Italian Horror, for reasons already mentioned in previous reviews; the films are only referred to by their Italian titles, without the translations. But that's no reason to stay away from this, or you'll miss out on some really great interviews, especially those involving Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci as well as many others. There are some great insights into the Italian filmmaking of the 70's/80's, and getting it straight from the parties involved makes for fascinating reading. I can assure you, you'll be surprised and delighted at some of the discussions. Rivalries are exposed, some trash talking and - finger pointing - abound. Great stuff from the wonderfully strange world of Italian Exploitation. Pick this up!One of the top three on the subject - the others, also highly recommended, are Broken Mirrors/Broken Minds: The Films of Dario Argento and Eaten Alive!

Any gore hound or Italian horror film buff will no doubt find much to savour in this volume. It is peppered with richly colorful pictures and poster art and much information in the form of interviews. Much is revealed in them, such as the confirmation that there was infact a rivalry between Argento and Fulci (which made their later day colaberation all the more remarkable and heartwarming before Fulci's untimely death) as well as inside odds and ends on some of the most violent, controversial, and daring films in history. The only draw backs are the potentially useful index of Italian films in the back which uses only the original Italian names of the films and during the interviews only the Italian language titles are used. Since the names are changed for their releases abroad, it makes this reference difficult to utilize. Also, some of the interviews are unfortunetly much too brief, as in the case of Ruggero Deodato. There is so much that could have been explored that is not due to their sparce length. Also, I found that at times the interviewers were pushy, or even accusing, in their questioning. As is the case in the Argento interview when they question him concerning his film Trauma and inquire whether he has sold out (not bluntly but in an indirect manner) that is both not impartial and counter productive. I also understand that a MUCH longer version of the book was available in Italy but the English edition was butchered for its release. Whether this is true or not I am not certain, but it could explain the seeming incompleteness of some of the interviews. Nonetheless, this book has much to offer, and my knowledge of the horror cinema is greatly enriched because of it. It gives a very fascinating portrait of how they make their films over there, and as they say, no information is better than that which comes directly from the source. Recommended.

A very interesting book with interviews with the most important people in the italian horror/fantasy filmindustry like Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, Ruggero Deodato and Aristide Massaccesi (Joe D'Amato) to name a few. The bad thing with this book is that all film titles is in italian wich is especially annoying in the review chapter, it can be very hard to find the film you are looking for if you don't know it's original title. But if you can stand this fault this is great stuff, a must for all fans of euro horror.

It's true that only italian titles are included here and this makes reading quite frustrating (for instance, the italian title for the recently released on DVD "Autopsy" is "Mache Solari"!). Of course, there is always IMDB to find out the film's english title. The point is that the interviews included here are very good with very few exceptions (the Terence Stamp interview is a joke). Argento's is great and so is Fulci's. David Warbeck gives a very good interview too and check out Tom Savini and Gianneto De Rossi. There is also a great interview with Argento's muse, Daria Nicolodi, a good reason alone to buy this book.All in all, this book maybe flawed, but if you are into this thing, you got to have it.

Just because you’re not a dentist, doesn’t mean you can’t pick this book up, it truly is for everyone.

Not very informative... I didn’t learn anything new.

I've read business books and self help books, many of which are full of fluff and feel good sayings. This was not that book! Laura Hatch just gets it! She understands what it takes to coordinate and empower a team to reach results. As a business owner, it's not up to me to complete every task - but to hire the right people, share my goals and communicate, then let them do their jobs and oversee the practice. I love that once I finished the book, Laura doesn't say "Now, Go!" - she provides another step on her website with the book guide. I have steps to follow, a guide for my team. This book is a total game changer. If you've been following Laura on Facebook, you know what's she's about, and see the pearls she shares. This book is your go-to launching pad for building a successful dental practice. You cannot afford to miss this.

This book is great at shining a light onto areas that need full focus from the business owner. There are key factors to being a good business owner and Laura does a nice job of explaining them. Not only that but she shows you how easy it is to get started with being a good leader. All positions in the office are reviewed and she gives practical suggestions on how to measure their performance.Running a practice is overwhelming but she does a great job of laying it all out so you can take baby steps. But instead of twiddling his or her thumbs about it, uses this position to work for them and the organization as a whole.By leading in 360 degree, a leader must be capable to adapt to both the lower and upper planes of his or her position in the organization. This means the leader must be able to gain the respect of the people that works below his or her level in the organization's hiearchy but also in-tuned enough with the organizaton's vision to be able to influence people of the upper echelon (i.e management). For example, if you work in sales of a manufacturing company, you must be able to adapt to the "lower" hierarchy of the company, such as people that work in the assembly line, or janitorial duties. Yet you must also be in-tuned to be able to communicate to the upper management without intimidation, to the point where upper managements value your inputs and view you as an asset.Maxwell does a swell job on explaining how to achieve this. As a matter of fact, he is very detailed on how to achieve this.However, the ideas expressed in this book is not much different than from his other books, such as "Winning with People", "Developing the Leader Inside You", "17 Laws of Leadership", "17 Laws Indisputable of Teamwork" and "25 Ways to Win with People", just to name a few. It seems more or less "recycled".But like any book of leadership influence, it's all in the reader's character and personality. How you apply the concepts taught in this book, the tone you use, and the approach you take makes a lot of different. To be able to influence anyone more or less lead them, the audience you are trying to lead must be willing to accept you as their leader. If they are not willing to accept you as a leader, you may as well be talking to a wall.

Let's face it, even on the bottom we aren't alone and leading at the bottom is still leading. Everyone, everywhere has an opportunity to influence and lead others and doing so may all the difference in the lives of those around us. Hello - I am a senior IT manager for a large fortune 500 company. I'm not the top boss but I'm also not the entry level manager either. I got this book because I wanted exactly what the name of this book said, to be a 360 degree leader. I must tell you when I read through it, I felt like John wrote chapters and sections of this book specifically for me. Literally some of the challenges I was going through were written out in this book. Timing wise it was spot on, content amazing and so applicable to work, home etc. I have recommended this book to some of my managers that report to me, but also to leaders above me. Every manager, team lead, director, VP, CEO should read this book and apply its truths. To learn how to lead as a 360 degree leader is a very powerful thing. Strongly recommend.

I came across Peter Brandt via Twitter feed . His Wise and sage advice instantly attracted me. One of the first traits of a successful trader is being modest in his capabilities in predicting the market. Every serious and successful trader will testify to this truth. If you hear someone who is talking other wise, either he is not truthful or the big draw down is ahead of him.WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS BOOK:Everyone who reads the book is not going to find it useful. You got to be a trader who makes your decisions based on charts and chart patterns to find this book useful. If you are a buy and hold Buffett style trader, you will still find this book useful to a limited extend in determining a good entry point. Also if you are a young trader, please understand that there are lots of eyes and computers looking at the same chart and has made the efficacy of charts like head and shoulder less reliable than in the past, and is being mentioned in this book as well. If you are a swing trader, day trader or an options trader, you will only find the book useful to the trading advice and opinions suggested by the author ( and less of those H&S patterns which has to be readjusted to lesser time frame)WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT :The book is a printed trade journal about one man's trade with no ideas of what the outcome will be . Even if you find the repeating charts boring after a while, make sure to read and assimilate the first pages of every chapter. He is employing Data scientists, Research programmers, tons of back testing reports etc never even imaginable for a common man and giving away everything for free. His tradable and actionable content crushes CNBC. ( Nope, I am not paid by Tastytrade). He is proving to the world `option's is not reckless. While at tastytrade never miss their segments like Market Measures, Option Jive etc.The quality of research you get is unbelievable !SUMMARY:A very good book, worth reading.Even if you do not read the book, become his twitter follower. You will not regret it.

It’s a rare opportunity to get an inside look at the trading process of a legend. But that’s exactly what Peter L. Brandt (PLB) provides with his book Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader: Lessons from 21 Weeks of Real Trading.The title is self-explanatory. PLB takes you with him as he trades over a 21 week period of time. You see every trade, every profit, and every loss. The book is a front row seat to the thought process of a master who’s averaged over 40% compounded returns throughout his 40 year trading career. Most famous traders you hear about have a few good years and then blow out. They’re only known for their “big calls” and CNBC appearances. But PLB has been consistently making huge profits for four decades, through every market environment imaginable. This type of longevity is extremely uncommon.Most of us have read the Market Wizards series. The interviews are fantastic and packed with tons of useful knowledge. But in the end they are just interviews. Imagine actually being able to sit with one of the Wizards as they trade themselves. PLB provides that experience.Throughout the book you’ll see PLB give it to you straight. There’s no sensationalism. No promise of ridiculous returns. No bulls***. It’s REAL trading. You see exactly what a professional goes through, from emotional and psychological management all the way to actual trade management.There’s a ridiculous amount of useful information packed in this book, but a few key lessons stand out to our team at Macro Ops.One is PLB’s focus on trade management over every other aspect of his strategy. This flies directly in the face of what most investors believe successful trading consists of. A majority think it’s all about trade identification. That’s why you’ll see them jump from indicator to indicator, looking for some holy grail that’ll find them non-stop winners.This is not the way a professional operates. As PLB explains early on:“I will explore all of the trading components I believe are necessary for consistent success later in this book, but trade identification is the least important of all. In my opinion, learning the importance of managing losing trades is the single most important trading component.”“Consistently profitable commodity trading is not about discovering some magic way to find profitable trades.”PLB understands that identifying a trade is only 10% of the process. The other 90% is managing the trade once you’re in it. And when it comes to management, PLB knows that the name of the game is risk control. PLB again:“Consistently successful trading is founded on solid risk management.”The ability to keep your losses small will bring you success in the long-run. Avoiding that one big mistake that’ll permanently take you out of the market is key. As the old saying goes, the best offense is a great defense.PLB continually displays this reality throughout his book, especially when considering his number of winning trades versus losing trades. PLB’s long-term success rate for individual trades is only around 30%. That means that 70% of his trades wind up losers. So how is he still so profitable year after year? Strict risk management. The losses he takes are very small. His few winners more than make up for all of them.With a strategy like this, where a majority of your trades are losers, a focus on process is of utmost importance. As PLB explains:“Successful trading is the process of doing certain things over and over again with discipline and patience.”“It is possible to be profitable over time even though the majority of trading events will be losers. “Process” will trump the results of any given trade or series of trades.”It’s not easy psychologically to have 70% of your trades fail. Most traders wouldn’t be able to handle it. But PLB can because he’s so focused on process. He can have 8 losers in a row and still follow his plan. He knows that it’s not the next trade, or the next 10 trades, but the entire cycle that needs to play through. His hand is not only steadied by years of experience, but also by a true understanding of his own strategy.For example, PLB knows the exact average number of trades he should take each year. Not only that, but he also knows how many of each type of trade he should be taking. The number of major pattern trades. The number of minor pattern trades. He understands how each portion should play out within his broader strategy.In total he’ll experience about 235 trading events in a year. Only 75 (32%) will be profitable and just 20 of those 75 will make his bottom line. By bottom line he means the trades that are mainly responsible for his profits that year. Most of his winning trades will only serve to cancel out the losers. But 20 of them will be big winners that’ll significantly move his P&L.Understanding his strategy down to the number and types of trades gives PLB the ability to continually execute through any market environment. Strategies work in cycles, just like the market. They go through periods of major gains while also experiencing times of drawdown. The trick is to keep executing through both periods to complete the full cycle. If the strategy is sound, the net result should be positive, or in PLB’s case, extremely positive.PLB’s thorough comprehension of his strategy gives him the confidence to know when it’s working and when it’s not. As he explains:“I am constantly studying and analyzing my trading performance for two major reasons: to determine if my trading plan is in sync with the markets and to determine if I am in sync with my trading plan.”This introspection allows him to make the right decisions throughout each cycle. It also comes in handy when evolving his strategy over time. Many traders tend to switch their strategy too often, basing it off the last few trades. PLB on the other hand is very careful to make changes because he realizes the folly of over-optimizing to one environment or another.But even though he’s very cautious when it comes to switching things up, his careful study and analysis helps him make a change when it really counts. For example, price breakouts are not as reliable now as they were a few decades ago. PLB has been able to adapt his strategy accordingly. But you’ll never see him make the mistake of adjusting his strategy based off some temporary drawdown. That’s the advantage he’s earned from developing a full-cycle mentality in regards to his strategy.The other interesting thing about PLB is that he’s a pure chartist. He relies solely on price and nothing else, and with price alone he’s been able to achieve his superior trading record.PLB has a deep understanding of what price actually is and the proper way to use it. He explains that there’s nothing magical about chart patterns. They don’t predict the future. At anytime, he says he really has no idea where price is going. Charts are just used to develop a process. To establish targets, define risk, and determine broad direction. Nothing more.This falls right in with what we believe at Macro Ops. Price is really just a way to simplify the extreme complexity that markets create. It takes infinite amounts of information and distills it into one simple reading. I've been trading a long time and I feel much more comfortable with stocks than with futures but Peter has done a masterful job of explaining timeless wisdom with much humility. The thing I love about value is the evaluation of whether any idea can come from this book that would earn back the cost. In this book, any of Peter's idea can and will make you a ton of money. That is, if you work hard. Peter loves his craft and you can just tell that he really has a great process and system, for him. He even has the wisdom to say that the system is for him and you must find what is most comfortable for you. Great job Mr. Brandt, you truly are a market wizard !!!

I have been trading for many years in stocks and options and recently decided to trade futures only lose more money in a month than I had in years. At this point, I closed my account and started reading books about futures trading. However, I still felt I wasn't getting actionable information until I ready this book which has been the best investment I have made in terms of time and money. The first month after I read this book and resumed trading futures, I recouped my previous losses and now sitting on positive p&l. To those just starting out in futures, remember to have enough guts and cash to bear the drawdowns. The absolute 1 thing that dramatically changed my trading style is that I now look at weekly charts first to decide on trend. Only then I start looking at shorter term charts. In my opinion, this book is a 5 star book - the only reason I gave 4 stars is because it is very difficult to read the tables and charts on a kindle.
