About the Author

Highly respected author, award-winning teacher, and popular professional presenter, Constance E. Bagley is Professor in the Practice of Law and Management at Yale University and a Senior Research Fellow at Yale Law School. Before joining the Yale faculty, she was an Associate Professor at Harvard Business School, a Senior Lecturer in Law and Management at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a corporate securities partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP. Professor Bagley received Yale's Excellence in Teaching Awards in 2009 and 2013. A past president of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, she is a recipient of its Senior Faculty Award of Excellence. In addition to multiple published articles, Professor Bagley also authored WINNING LEGALLY: HOW MANAGERS CAN USE THE LAW TO CREATE VALUE, MARSHAL RESOURCES, AND MANAGE RISK (Harvard Business School Press, 2005), coauthored (with Craig E. Dauchy) THE ENTREPRENEUR'S GUIDE TO BUSINESS LAW, 4E (Cengage, 2012), and contributed to numerous other books. She received her JD (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School and her AB (Honors and Distinction) from Stanford University. She received an honorary doctorate in economics from Lund University in Sweden.

I am not the type of person who generally likes to read text books, but after reading this book, there may be some textbooks that are helpful. This books goes over almost everything that managers would encounter in the business world, and it explains the subjects in great detail. What I really liked about the book was that after explaining the material, the book would use real world experiences or cases to explain the application of the law. This is very helpful for someone who is not as familiar with how the law works.

The course this was required for (Legal Issues in Business) was challenging, but the textbook provided a clear understand of the subject matter and gave students the opportunity to excel in the beginnings of a business or legal degree.As there is always room for improvement, the things that could make this book even better are a price drop and additional international law examples/differences. Most of the content is U.S. in nature, although there are a few EU-related cases plus a smattering from elsewhere around the globe.

When looking at the description of the book words like "minor wear" and "unmarked with highlighter" came up, but when I received the item, that was far from reality. The front and back cover look like wolverine took his business law class frustrations out on it. And the inside of the book like a unicorn threw up inside it. I do not appreciate being lied to, I don't appreciate spending money on an item and getting something damn near useless.

A text book for class. I can't imagine paying full price for text books ever again. Required reading for MBA.

The book came in a reasonable amount of time though it would have been great to set a side note that this book is the International Student Version rather than making one understand that it was the regular student version. Other than that, the book came in prime condition.

Unlike other texts that seem to be pre-law in focus, this text shows the linkages between the legal issues and the manager's concerns and decision making responsibilities.
