Would have been a "5" but the publishers Skipped the INDEX and plastered advertising at the end. Pretty cheesy decision.On the whole, this is a book incredibly important for the well being of our children, and to bare down on the pricks of this case who call themselves lawyers -- they enabled an extremely successful, almost industrial-level, serial child rapist.Why? Because Epstein was Filthy Rich. In American Justice, money talks. And in Epstein's case, it screamed.Hats off to Patterson for walking on the wild side of non-fiction. The world of sane, healthy people, and all parents, owe him and the others a lot of gratitude for getting this story out to the public. Child Sex Trafficking is the scourge of the 1%. Epstein over here, and Savile across the Pond, each will become doors to this dark, foul world of sexual parasites feeding on the most vulnerable, just like the Vatican became a symbol for the same in the church. Hooyah.

He serves 13 months of an 18 month sentence in the Palm Beach County Central Detention Center [the Stockade]. Wearing an ankle bracelet Epstein has "work release" privileges and allowed to leave prison grounds six days a week to go to his attorney's office, his office, or to his home on El Brillo Way in Palm Beach.In chapter's 32—33, Donald Trump bars Epstein from Mar-a-Lago when a member of the posh private resort complains to Trump his young daughter has been invited to Epstein's house, about two miles from the twenty acre resort. She goes, then complains to her father Epstein tries to get her to undress.Patterson writes, "...in no uncertain terms [Trump] told Epstein that he was barred from Mar-a-Lago" and Trump severs all ties with him.Epstein caters to ex-presidents [Clinton]; international politicians, royalty [Prince Andrew]; CEOs, Hollywood moguls ... you get the picture. His parties are infamous. His penchant for young girls, 14 and up, remains hidden from public scrutiny. The exceptions are those Eyes Wide Shut elite who pander along with his pedophile whims.Patterson, Connolly and Malloy have taken a sensitive subject and presented it with taste, in an interesting format in the Patterson drama to keep you turning the pages.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This is the story of Jeffrey Epstein and just a few of his victims. A man that did not come from money, and didn't even finish college, moved himself into some of the most rarified circles in the world just by his gift with numbers and knowledge of people. Amassing a great fortune, and having a reputation as a great man- smart and charming; one would think this would be enough. But he has a dark secret-an obsession. He likes under aged girls- "the younger the better". He would have them brought in to give him "massages" and would sexually abuse them. This went on for years with many young girls. When he was finally caught, he was charged only with one count of soliciting a prostitute and spent 13 months in jail of a 18 month sentence. How did he get off so lightly? How did he get away with this for so long? And even though he has been made to make restitution to many victims and is a registered sex offender, was justice really served? This book goes into all these question. I don't normally read true crime as I like a bit of distance between reality and my mayhem. This one, though.... the idea of it just would not leave me alone. My niece is only a year younger than Epstein's youngest victim listed in this book. That anyone could take these girls and do this to them.... it kills me. And then there's the fact that I had never heard of this case- nor had my family. How did it get kept so quiet? How was the time he served sufficient? What happened to his associates- and to the girls? There were so many questions. The authors took care, changing names and giving respect to the victims; and did their best not to sensationalize this case. Indeed, some reviewers even called it dry in parts, but I loved it. I liked that they added chapters in the victims (and Epstein's) point of view, so that you could better understand them and feel for them. I also liked that they added pieces of the police interviews. To me, this was the best way to do a story like this. I would give it a four star review. Four Stars On the adult content scale... by the very nature of this book I would not hand it to a young teen. It isn't written for a young audience. There is language, sexual violence... I would give it a nine

The 49-Mile Scenic Tour is a great way to see San Francisco at your own pace and you can make your own choices about where to spend more or less time. This book is worth the purchase just to have the turn-by-turn directions as it's hard to sometimes find or see the street signs. We also purchased the SF Guide Map as it has the tour highlighted in red. With both the map and the directions we had no difficulty navigating our way. I feel I am a rather harsh reviewer so it has to be good for me to award five stars. A Tale of Love and Darkness is quite wonderful and richly deserves high acclaim.A bildungsroman... a family saga... a memoir about growing up in the newly formed state of Israel, A Tale of Love and darkness held me from the opening sentence to the last.A non-jew, I have never understood the relentless persecution of the Jews over the centuries and I have always believed in their right to a homeland.Oz is an intellectual and free thinker and acknowledges throughout the book the suffering of the Arabs as well as the Israelis. He describes his thoughts as a child from a right wing family when he is obviously influenced by the opinions of the adult world he is surrounded by, to later in life when he joins a kibbutz and discovers his own sense of morality.Life was harsh and frightening for everyone in those early days of building a new nation from scratch under the hostile, unfriendly eyes of the Britishwith never-ending threats of attacks from the surrounding Arab nations and none more so than for someone like Oz's mother. A beauty from a privileged background in Eastern Europe, well educated and speaking several languages, she must have felt the weight of being plunged into the struggle in those early days of Israel. Relegated to household chores and mandanity for her entire life, taking a backseat to her scholarly husband and the other male members of their community I can understand to a degree how unhappy she must have been. She loses herself in fanciful tales she relates to her young son and maintains a close friendship with girls from the same school and background in Eastern Europe. Her story touched me deeply.Overall this is a story of great understanding and compassion, of intelligent observation, and deep thought.Although it is rather a large book I could have gone on reading. A powerful story told against the backdrop of one of the most enterprising and courageous and yet sad and problematic situations in history, that still makes the headlines on a daily basis.I encourage you to read this magnificent story of the making of Israel and the people who struggled to make it happen.

I wouldn't call "A Tale of Love & Darkness" by Amos Oz an autobiography. I would call it a memoir; a memoir of love and darkness of Jerusalem; the new state of Israel; kibbutz life. I would call if a memorial for his mother, who took her own life at the age of 38 when Oz was about 13.Oz's account of life in Jerusalem will make you laugh, cry and feel deep compassion for the early settlers who lived and died through the War of Independence in 1948. This was a time when Jerusalemites could be killed purposefully by the enemy for emerging from the house simply to bring in the laundry or to play with a toy in the backyard.You will feel the agony of young Amos, who, even unto manhood, endeavours to come to terms with why his mother chose suicide. She may have been manic depressive, decades before such a condition was recognized and treated.Oz is a writer's writer. He inspires admiration and envy in any writer with his use of language, so rich in description, so capable of expressing humour, gentleness, affection, poignancy and nostalgia.Opposed to the heart-rending account of his mother is the humour which is at times outrageously funny, for instance in his portrayals of Ben-Gurion and Menachem Begin. The Begin account in particular brought so many tears to my eyes from laughter that I had to keep wiping them away in order to see what I was reading. Briefly, he tells of the time he and his grandfather were in an auditorium to hear Begin orate. It seems that old Biblial Hebrew had changed to a much more compatible version of Hebrew to be used for everyday life. This was the new Hebrew that the young Sabras (born in Israel) were using. But not Menachem Begin who continued to plow on in old Hebrew. The word for "arm" as in armament, had changed in the new Hebrew to mean something to do with the F word. Begin plowed on, loudly asking who was arming nations, and asking who would arms the Israelis! What the boy heard was the F word, over and over again. The young boy could not contain himself and burst into hilarious laughter, which he couldn't control. To make matters worse, they were sitting in the VIP seats at the front of the auditorium. Out his goes in a flash, being dragged by the ear by grandpop.Amos Oz came from a family of scholars and writers. He wanted to be a writer. I purchased this book in preparation for the PHR exam because I felt I had limited knowledge about employment law. I used the book in an atypical fashion and read it the entire way through, so I did notice some repeat and redundent information in reading it cover to cover. However, it is still a great reference guide for those HR professionals who want a go-to manual on the basics of the major laws governing employment in the U.S. The authors divide the book into clearly defined sections, with a lot of white space, so it is very easy to find the various requirements and exceptions to the laws. What I found most useful were the various websites they listed in each chapter where you can go to find more detailed information on the law and where to find the posters if needed for the law. The authors don't pretend to be the one and only source for employment law due to its complex nature, but they do point you in the direction of additional information. I would recommend this book as a quick reference tool for employment law basics.

This is an exceptional reference book. I purchased it for my niece, who was working on her MBA.I had already handled a number of federal employment cases over the years. This book certainly wouldn't replace legal research for anyone in the field of law. But it does a commendable job for non-attorneys - even, perhaps, for those in the field of law, who have no knowledge of employment law.I hope that the text will be updated.

This is great. It hits all the highlights of the various laws governing employment relationships. Of all the books I have on ADA and FMLA this is the best explanation I've seen. If you need or want to learn about employment law this is excellent. It's one volume packed with accurate information that can replace volumes of other books.

Used for college and very informational

I needed this book for a graduate class in employment law. As the class is not part of a law school program, I think the book is excellent. Everything is explained in plain English, not in confusing legal verbiage. I am learning a lot from it and plan to hold on to it for use after the class is over. At $20 cheaper than the book store on campus plus free shipping, it was a great deal!

This is a very practical guide to the federal employment statutes. As a lawyer beginning to practice employment law, I often need to do additional research outside of this book. But the book has been a good way for me to educate myself generally about these laws.

He has a wonderful wit, and great depth of thought, and you can't help but develop your own creative thinking by reading his material. I read this book over the span of about a year. I found it more for entertainment and personal interest while seeking God rather than very serious spiritual reading. Every time I would read a chapter, I would come from it feeling refreshed and closer to God, much like a cup of coffee for the soul. Sweet goes off on a lot of tangents, which may be aggravating to some, but if you just let go, Sweet does a great job of subtly making a point. It's nice to see things from a different perspective sometimes. One final note- his chapter on smell brought me to tears and stuck with me for weeks. That chapter alone made the book worthwhile.

This book should be on every Christian theologians' bookshelf. If you can't stop to read something this good- you have little business meddling in the affairs of God who is rich in flavor and is the life - full of energy and zest. Mr. Sweet uses words like honey to describe the world as he sees it and as we can see it through a spiritually awakened frame of mind and soul. I came away feeling refreshed like never in my life- by a book that is.. Those who want to fulfill their hearts' longings and those who want to bettter understand the God of this universe- get your copy and share it with others! Even those who just need to regroup and get a new perspective on their lives will benefit by reading.
